Nerd Alert!

So while shopping in Target with a fellow teacher friend, we rounded a corner near the back of the store and I actually squealed with excitement... Bex was confused... she was all "are you okay?!?. what has you so excited besides the school supplies?"  um... nothing besides the school supplies... school supplies are enough to get a squeal out of me.  The hardworking Target folks were just starting to set up the displays, while trying to convince these other people to buy the last of the outdoor furniture... excuse me while I step around y'all to get to the shiny new supplies!!  Oh, don't mind if I do!  I loaded up my basket with everything that I want my new munchkins to bring, one of these, three of these, ooh and that, too!  As we walked to the front of the store to get some items that hadn't been put out yet, Bex asked if I was actually going to buy all this stuff, or just take a picture of it?  Well, I had planned on buying it, staging it at home and then putting it out on display for Registration so that everyone knew what I expected them to bring... but her question made me think twice.  So we (really I, she was kind of embarassed to be seen with me at this point) pulled out a black foam-core posterboard and staged a little photo shoot right there in the middle of the "stationary" aisle.  I made her use her phone since she has the newer iPhone (with a flash!) and she emailed them to me... she titled the emails "freaking ridic" because yes, I am that much of a nerd...  Now you might be wondering why "I" took pictures of all this stuff rather than just making a standard list-style supply list for my kiddos... well, a lot of them speak another language at home, and I didn't want to wait to get it translated, and frankly, I think it looks cuter with pictures.  See... look:

I typed up my welcome letter, telling them how I know it seems like summer vacay just started, but how we'll be back in school super soon, I included information about Registration, and gave them their first homework assignment: complete the "all about me" poster from Rachelle's VIP pack.  I printed the letters on bright paper, but that was more to make it fun for me when I addressed them.  The school gave me envelopes and stamps, and they already had the school's address stamped, but I added "your new teacher!" above the name of the school... I hope the kiddos are as excited to get these as I was to make them!  I already told you that I'm a nerd, so it shouldn't surprise you that I used the same color pen to write their names! I just stuck them in the mailbox to go out tomorrow!!!  Cross that guy off my to-do list!

Hip, Hip Hooray, Today Was the 100th Day!

We're over the hump!
My kiddos were greeted by this door this morning
Their desks looked like this

one swiss cake roll{plus}two chocolate frosted donuts{equals}100th day treat!!

The classrooms on my side of the hall all had the kiddos create a 100th day project (let me know if you'd like the letter we sent home, I have it in English and Spanish!).  After the kinders paraded through the school, we opened our doors (and the connecting doors) and had a little gallery walk to check out all of the awesome "hundredness."  Here are some highlights (from all four classes):

I brought my lunch today, but I just had to snap a pic of our salad today... hahah!!

How awesome is this?  a) the shadow, b) graveyard, c) headstone, and d) grieving sister.  There was a trend in my room of dead portraits at 100 years old, but this one took the cake!

(thanks Mrs. Bainbridge!!)
How do you celebrate the 100th day??

more target goodies

I promised, geeze two weeks ago, that I would show you what else I got at Target...
I found...
-another set of carnival cans for knock down subtraction
-citrus stickers and erasers (counters for something I've yet to make)
-three books for social studies
-busy people flash cards, they were just too adorable to pass up
-three pointers
-three supply caddies (I need a purple one to complete the set, I saw one somewhere and said "aw man, if only they had pink, green, and blue... now I can't for the life of me remember where that was.... rrrrr.)
-three packs of double sided bookmarks (I l.o.v.e. bookmarks)
-and DR. SEUSS GOODIES!!
--cups, notepad, cutouts, border, and window clings!!  oooh, and I found the erasers and silly bands, but they're in the backseat of my car with the rest of the stuff to take to school.

I'm going to call in the am to see when "I" have to go back... the website says new teachers report the 25th... I'm not a new teacher, but I'm new to the school.... do they mean me?  AND I found out yesterday that I was approved for the cute (but only has one... ONE... closet) condo, and mom brought some awesomely sturdy boxes when she came up this weekend.  which means that I have one, maybe two weeks before pre-planning, and I have four years of living in this apartment to purge purge purge and pack up in uniform boxes so my parents will be happy (no more tubs=boxes for this girl).

goodness....

payday isn't just a candy bar!

It's pay day here in Georgia, and that means..... Dollar Spot time!  Becky and I hit up the Super Target after receipt day at Chick-fil-A, and then good ol' Dollar Tree!  Check out my haul! (and let me apologize for the pictures taken on the bed... it has the best lighting in the apt.  and can I say that I can't wait to move!!)
PS: This is my first linky party and I'm linking up with Kristen over at Ladybug's Teacher Files.  Go and see what everyone else has picked up!

First up, Dollar Tree... where I found three trays for sorting, two clear ones for place value, a giant eraser (just 'cause), some patriotic kiddos, speech bubble accents, and tiny rectangular tubbies for teeny craft supplies.
Super Target was the winner for the day!  I found all of this!

We're talking about Dr. Seuss pencils, markers, and socks! Pirate baggies (I'm thinking about Abby's pirate Mark with these), popcorn and peanut and candy containers, an orange and white tub (Halloween and Thanksgiving book display), two sets of dice, Lady Liberty crowns, Time and Math Bingo games, a carnival themed can toss (maybe I should have gotten more... subtraction games anyone?), adhesive cupcakes, and adhesive mustaches.  I've got a HUGE idea for the mustaches... but you'll have to wait ;)
